Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Treatment-Resistant Depression: An Interactive Self-Learning Module

This interactive self-learning module introduces transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) as an evidence-based treatment for treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Designed to address a training gap among psychiatry trainees, the module covers the basic science of TMS, clinical indications and contraindications, common side effects, and the standard treatment process. The fully narrated, animated format incorporates embedded self-assessment questions to reinforce key concepts. Evaluation with psychiatry residents demonstrated significant self-reported improvement in knowledge and confidence across all learning objectives, supporting the module’s effectiveness as an introductory educational resource.
